Visually, it is no longer traditionally a wilderness. “Erkový” Golf was always sharpened rather than looking like it had passed a tuning meeting at a shopping mall.

You’ll notice different bumpers, standard 18-inch wheels or four tailpipes. The standard exhaust can again be replaced by a titanium system from Akrapović for an additional charge. The new R-Division logo moved to the center of the boot lid. The stern is also decorated with a roof spoiler.

Inside, a 10-inch instrument panel with different graphics is standard, which also promises important data that you expect from a sports car – such as data on the oil temperature in the engine or transmission. The steering wheel and seats with integrated head restraint are also special.

The drive is a well-known two-liter, which has 20 horsepower more between generations. It is tuned for 235 kW, 320 hp, and 420 Nm of torque. The car will accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.7 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 km / h or 270 km / h when ordering the R-Performance package.

Again, it works exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. However, it has a rear differential with multi-plate clutches, which we know, for example, from the latest-generation Ford Focus RS.

It was the sharp focus that enabled all-wheel drive overdrive adjustment in Drift mode, which inspires the new Golf R. Below the Race mode, there is the Drift mode, but also the Special mode, which works with a softer adjustment of the adaptive dampers and, like the recently introduced GTI Clubsport version, is to be tuned exactly to the North Loop of the Nürburgring.

The novelty will reach the first markets this year, the date of arrival on the Czech market and prices are not yet known.
