Volkswagen has introduced a modernized T-Roc, it has better lights and diesel engines

The small T-Roc crossover has been on Volkswagen’s offer since 2017, so it’s high time to upgrade. It will hit the market next year, but the carmaker has just discovered it.

As is usual with similar rejuvenations, the t-roc has seen a new bow along with headlights, which for an additional fee can also have the function of LED Matrix, ie shading the surrounding traffic with constant high beam lighting around. The new front bumper retains the “round quadrangle” motif, but instead of a turn signal and daytime running lights, this is just a design element on at least most versions. Of interest are the rear reflectors of the basic equipment variants, which are now also in this shape.

Speaking of which, the new headlights and four ostentatiously false tailpipes on the R-Line version can’t be overlooked. The R variant, which, like the convertible version, has so far only shown, by the way, in the group photos, has four exhaust tailpipes, of course, real.

At its other end, as before, is an in-line two-liter four-cylinder turbocharger that produces 300 horsepower and works with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and should consume 7.8 liters of gasoline per 100 km according to the older NEDC measurement methodology. Data for all engines are known; for clarity, we present them in a table.

In the interior, the t-roc received a new dashboard for the second half of its life cycle, from which the central display of the infotainment system protrudes a bit. Its diagonal is 8 or 9.2 inches, depending on the equipment version, and the system inside is an older version of the MIB3, not a controversial new one that works in eighth-generation golf, for example.

The larger dashboard display sticks out a bit.

On the floor below we see a new air conditioning touch panel, known for example from the modernized arteon or tiguan. A digital instrument panel is standard, as is a lane keeper or front-end collision warning assistant.

For an additional fee, it is possible to have an adaptive cruise control with the Travel Assist function, ie semi-autonomous level 2 control.

It will be possible to order the new t-year at the end of this month, at a price of 543,900 crowns for a basic three-cylinder of 110 hp. The cabriolet starts at 805,900 crowns due to a more powerful engine and better basic equipment. The three-column version of the R will be available early next year.
