Volkswagen is gradually unveiling all the different variants of its most popular Golf model, which came on the market in the eighth generation. After strong versions, a family variant with an extended rear part of the station wagon was also introduced. Golf Variant already knows the first Czech awards.

For the time being, customers can try to configure and then order the Golf Variant in only two versions on the Internet. Both are tied to a two-liter diesel engine with different power. So far, 85 kW (110 hp) and 110 kW (150 hp) are available.

The basic version is the Life equipment, which is offered in the cheapest version with a weaker diesel and a six-speed manual transmission. VW offers the combi 642,900 crowns, ie 30,000 more expensive than the hatchback. However, the equipment of the model in the Life version is rich, it offers automatic three-zone air conditioning, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multifunction steering wheel, infotainment with a ten-inch display or parking sensors.

As for the more powerful engine tuned to 150 horsepower, we will see this only in the R-Line equipment version with an automatic seven-speed DSG transmission. It is traditionally sportier, with 17-inch alloy wheels, a sports chassis and sports seats. Inside, there is a richer equipment and with that, of course, the price rises. The Golf Variant R-Line costs 808,900 crowns and is again exactly 30,000 crowns more expensive than a hatchback with the same equipment.

The biggest competitor on the Czech market for the Golf Variant will traditionally be the Škoda Octavia Combi, which stands on the same platform. At present, the Mladá Boleslav station wagon has an undeniable advantage in a number of motorizations on offer.

We currently have to count the equipment of 125 years as the basic version. With the same weaker diesel engine with an output of 85 kW, it sells for 550,900 crowns, so it is more than 90,000 cheaper than the Golf Variant. However, it has slightly poorer equipment without a multifunction steering wheel and also lacks a larger infotainment. It is basically made of 16-inch steel wheels.

The top version of the Golf Variant in the R-Line equipment will then find the biggest competitor in the Octavia with the Style equipment. With the same engine, it costs 782,900 crowns. Customers will pay 26,000 less for the top Octavia than for the Golf Variant R-Line.
