Petrol, diesel, 48 V hybrid and plug-in hybrid, now methane is also added. The new Golf 8 TGI it is equipped with a 1.5-liter 130 hp, 200 Nm engine, associated with the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The three gas tanks guarantee agenerous autonomy and low running costs, with partial or total exemption from motor vehicle tax. The TGI 1.5 of the Golf 8 also adopts the Miller cycle for methane gas fueling, with a high compression ratio, to increase efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. The efficiency is excellent: in the WLTP homologation cycle, the natural gas Golf 8 has a combined consumption of 6.2-6.5 m3 / 100 km equal to 111-116 g / km of CO2.
Ai low management costs thanks also to the reduced price of fuel, the Golf 8 TGI adds environmental sustainability. A car powered by methane gas, in fact, emits about 25% less CO2 than a petrol one; burning methane also produces less carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOX), as well as minimal amounts of particulate matter.
