Volkswagen Electric Cars Sales Volume Increases by 111% in 2023 – ID. Models Driving Growth

Largest market share

In 2023, from the total of 1,715 electric cars sold in Latvia, Volkswagen delivered 245 cars to customers, which accounted for 14% of the electric car market. The most demanded Volkswagen electric cars in Latvia in 2023 were ID.4 (108 cars), ID.3 (78 cars) and ID.Buzz (38 cars).

Compared to the previous year, the volume of sales of Volkswagen electric cars in the Baltic States has more than doubled. In 2022, only 5% of all Volkswagen cars sold in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were electric, but in 2023 this figure has increased to 11%. The significant changes reflect the changing environment, which is also evidenced by the 53% increase in the Latvian electric car market in the past year.

In order to maintain its leading position in the electric car market, the brand will not only present new IDs in the market. family models, but will also update the technologies of existing models. The improved ID.4, a much-loved urban SUV, is now available with even greater mileage, as well as improved power and car efficiency.

An even wider ID. range of family models

From the first ID.3 to the wide range of models including the ID.4, ID.5 SUVs and the expected ID.Buzz and ID.Buzz Cargo, the Volkswagen MEB platform provides practical and advanced models. The new flagship of the ID family, ID.7, is already available in Latvia, which can travel up to 621 kilometers on a single charge. It will soon be followed by the ID.7 Tourer station wagon, as well as the Polo-sized electric car model ID.2 and the T-Cross electric analogue – ID.2X.

Almost 5 million cars in 2023

In 2023, Volkswagen delivered approximately 4.87 million cars to customers worldwide. Sales of electric vehicles increased by 21.1%, with 394,000 new all-electric vehicles delivered to customers during the year.
