Volkswagen delivers 27% more electric cars

Volkswagen delivered 27 percent more new electric vehicles in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.

Despite problems related to supply chain disruptions, partial production interruption and the Covid situation in China, the Volkswagen Group has managed to increase sales of electric vehicles.

In the first half of 2022, 217,100 fully electric vehicles (BEVs) were sold, which is 27% more than in the first half of 2021 (170,900).

BEV’s share of total deliveries reached 5.6 percent, compared to 3.4 percent in the first half of 2021.

If you look at the BEV statistics by region, Europe was still the clear leader in the first half of the year with 128,800 cars (total share of the concern: 59 percent). The second largest BEV market for the group was China with 63,500 deliveries (29 percent), while the third with 17,000 vehicles is the USA, providing eight percent of the group’s global BEV deliveries.

As for the choice of buyers by model, Volkswagen ID 4/ID 5 – 66,800 units, Volkswagen ID 3 – 26,000 and Audi e-tron (including Sportback) – 24,700 were the most popular. Škoda Enyaq iV (including Coupe) followed. – 22,200, Porsche Taycan (including Cross Turismo) – 18,900 and Audi Q4 e-tron (including Sportback) – 18,200 units.
