Volkswagen Chief Designer Reveals Official Illustrations of Modernized Golf and GTI on Instagram

Volkswagen chief designer Andreas Mindt published official illustrations of the modernized Golf on his Instagram profile. And he also threw in sketches of the sports version of the GTI.

The images confirm that the facelift will bring rather subtle changes in appearance. The car gets a new front bumper with different air intakes and new headlights. They will offer a redesigned light signature, which includes an arrangement inspired by electric models from the ID family, a distinctive LED strip above the narrow radiator grille and, above all, the new illuminated Volkswagen logo.

Modified lamps can also be found at the back, and a new bumper should also be found. New wheel rims and body colors are likely to appear in the price list.

In the case of the GTI version, we expect similar innovations, but of course the car will have a sportier appearance. The hot hatch therefore gets a larger opening in the front bumper filled with a honeycomb pattern or a distinctive rear spoiler.

And since Volkswagen has previously offered a look at the rejuvenated interior, we know that even in higher specifications the Golf will get rid of touch surfaces on the steering wheel and return to traditional buttons.

We can also look forward to redesigned infotainment. It should run on a 10-inch touch screen in lower trims, and a 13-inch display in more expensive versions. Volkswagen invites you to a new user experience with new functions and smoother operation. We could perhaps wait for backlit bars under the display.

An interesting novelty is the deployment of the ChatGPT tool, i.e. a kind of “kit” using artificial intelligence. The function is not supposed to serve as a replacement for voice control, rather it will be another addition that will provide a “relevant answer to any question”. It will be possible to converse with AI in the Golf (and other new Volkswagens) from the second quarter of this year.

No word yet on engines and prices. However, it can be assumed that the range of power units will not change that much as part of the modernization. We’ll see. And soon. The performance is scheduled for January 24.
