On Monday, October 11th, around 7:40 a.m., there was a traffic accident in Moltkestrasse in which several school children were injured. First, a school bus drove on the Kühlweinstraße coming from the city center in the direction of Röchlinghöhe. At the level of property no. 35, a 10-year-old boy suddenly stepped between two cars parked lengthways on the edge of the lane onto the lane in order to cross it from left to right.
Obviously the child hadn’t noticed the approaching bus. In order to avoid a collision between the bus and the child, the 51-year-old bus driver had to perform emergency braking. Several children sitting and standing in the bus fell and injured themselves. There was no collision between the 10-year-old boy and the bus.
A total of 20 of the 54 bus occupants were injured. The slightly injured children were taken to the surrounding hospitals. The rescue service was on site under emergency medical supervision with a total of 21 people. The parents of the injured children were informed by the school social service. The uninjured children were safely brought to the Röchlinghöhe primary school.
