“Volendam Team’s Battle Song: ‘Gaan Nair Uis’ for Eredivisie Success”

The fact that the Volendam team can play in the Eredivisie for another year is not only a reason for a party, but also for a song. The Palingboeren have made a song together – read: battle song – in their Volendammer dialect.

‘We were assisted vocally by a few ‘mastodons’ from the local music scene. Joop Bouwman, Kevin Koning, Ron Buijs and even my manager Aloys Buijs came by to strengthen De Palingboeren. It resulted in ‘Gaan Nair Uis’, writes Jan on Instagram.

FC Volendam is fourteenth in the Eredivisie with 33 points.

Jan Smit has now recovered from his burnout. For example, he is physically – or mentally, such as during the Eurovision Song Contest – always with FC Volendam when they play a match and he also performs with De Toppers.
