ADO Den Haag booked their first win of the season in the first division after two draws. They won the match against FC Volendam 2-1 at home.

FC Volendam, relegated to the first division this summer, is last in the league with zero points from three games.

Alex Schalk, who returned to the Netherlands this winter after wanderings in Scotland, Switzerland and Japan, broke the spell by scoring the opening goal for ADO. The 32-year-old striker slid the ball in nicely after a free kick by Daryl van Mieghem. Teammate and true Volendammer Jari Vlak then made it 2-0.

Volendam briefly came back into the game through a goal from former ADO striker Henk Veerman, but not long after that they were reduced to one man after Daniël Beukers was shown a red card.

TOP Oss surprisingly in the lead

TOP Oss, who finished eighteenth in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie last season, will be at least in the lead for one day. The Brabanders were still undefeated after duels with promotion candidates Excelsior (3-1 win) and Roda JC (0-0) and won at home against SC Cambuur (1-0) on Friday evening.

The only goal of the match was scored by Giovanni Korte, who played for Cambuur between 2019 and 2021 and played a major role in the Leeuwarden team’s promotion in 2021.

The remaining Friday night matches in the first division all ended in a draw. De Graafschap disappointed by drawing 2-2 against Jong FC Utrecht, while FC Emmen did not get further than 0-0 at home against Helmond Sport.

FC Den Bosch and MVV also kept each other in balance: 1-1.
