Vojta Dyk’s Emotional Tribute Song at Český Nightingale Awards

Singer Vojta Dyk moved the packed hall of Fora Karlín during the presentation of the Český nightingale awards. He dedicated his song Táto to his late father Radek Pytlík last February. He moved everyone in the hall.

“I started writing a song for my dad two years ago and it was supposed to be called Before You Go. But he passed away before I could finish writing it and I realized how as a society, including myself, we’re pushing death out of our lives,” he began his performance favorite singer.

His dad died at home surrounded by his family. “Even in the cruelty of leaving, it was one of the most beautiful days of my life for me. Because we had time to do it. We had time to leave. We had time to die,” he said. “I would really like for us not to exclude death from our lives, for it not to be a taboo for our children, for our parents or for us. For it to be part of it,” he added.

That is why the song Táto was created, which he sang at Friday’s presentation of the Czech Nightingale. He moved the whole hall. His wife Tatiana Dyková and, for example, singer Richard Krajčo did not hide the tears in their eyes.
