Voigt: Promotion with the homeland club

The Volksstimme speaks to athletes about memorable competitions as players and as spectators.

Niederndodeleben l Sport creates a variety of emotions in different situations. Every athlete is annoyed about a lost game or a failed run. The victory over the current leader of the regional league is celebrated with pride after the final with beer and bratwurst. Anyone who has been involved in sports for many years and watched as a spectator has experienced countless victories and defeats. Stories about these events can fill evenings. Because everyone has something to say about their most beautiful or saddest game. Sometimes the result doesn’t even play a role. Some athletes managed to get close to professional careers, while others managed to beat the FCM as ambitious recreational footballers. Volksstimme spoke to athletes from the Bördekreis about their most beautiful or most emotional game that they have played as an active player and also wanted to know something about their sporting highlight in the role of the spectator.

Best experience as an athlete

In addition to some state championship titles with the 1.FC Magdeburg in the youth field, participation in youth training for the Olympics with the sports high school and a tournament in Duisburg with the state selection Saxony-Anhalt, where the best players of the year nationwide faced each other and I got the opportunity against Playing outstanding kickers like Julian Draxler or Nico Schulz at that time, one moment outshines all previous experiences. I took my first steps in football boots at TSV Niederndodeleben and when I was allowed to put on the green and white jersey again for the 2018/19 season, it felt right and very familiar.

For me personally, the goal of the season was set on the first day. Our team just had to move up in this series of games. Every player on this team not only shared the same point of view, but knew full well that the endeavor was long overdue. For several decades, the TSV Niederndodeleben has produced outstanding teams and many of them mostly only failed extremely thinly in this project. Among other things, my grandpa, my father and my brother. In the 2018/19 season we subordinated everything to success, showed ourselves as a more committed unit and swam on a true wave of success across all seasons in first place, which meant promotion to the national treasury. After the championship was made perfect, the emotions really rolled over. And not only with the active players, but also with all loyal supporters up to the former players. The entire village was transported into an unprecedented ecstasy. The very humid team trip to Mallorca that followed shortly thereafter completed the incredibly beautiful celebrations.

Best experience as a spectator

I can think of two events that I fondly remember. Fortunately, my grandfather Klaus, my father Jens, my brother Marc and I were able to purchase four tickets for the game between France and South Korea in the 2006 soccer World Cup in our own country. Admittedly, it turned out to be quite difficult to focus on just one player. Because icons like Zidane, Henry, Vieira, Makélélé and Ribery suddenly faced you. That made our footballer hearts beat faster than usual. Another fantastic memory from 2015 will be fondly remembered. Unfortunately without Grandpa Klaus, we organized a city trip to Madrid with men.

After a successful tour of the city and a later visit to the stadium, the time had finally come. We had the pleasure of watching Real Madrid’s game against Deportivo La Coruna at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. I was thrilled by this really impressive venue. For me it was a dream come true, as the glamor of the Galactic (Real Madrid, editor’s note) had cast a spell on me at an early stage. I have to say that I’ve sympathized with the player Cristiano Ronaldo since I was a child. His irrepressible ambition, his winning mentality and his determination still impress me today.
