The director of “TS Dance Academy” and the producer of the show Tālis Sils introduces the upcoming premiere and its idea in Latvian Radio “Kultūras rondo”: help, support our future – young people:
“This is the primary task of this project – to help young people survive this period beautifully, until you reach the age of independence, when you need to be capable, knowledgeable and competitive.
So we got together. Choreographer Milana Komarova is very sympathetic to me. Elizabeth Gricman works in a very interesting video. From the point of view of the musical environment, we have Rihards Lībietis. It’s like a pretty colorful team, but I found it very interesting to work with them. It is always interesting if you are surrounded by these creative people, especially if you have decided to create a strong, high-quality and thoughtful show. One of the main factors that motivated me to create something beautiful, high-quality, where you can think, what you can enjoy, where there is aesthetics, beautiful bodies, is that my dance school has grown into a beautiful, strong and powerful young dancer over the last ten years. generation.”
Tālis Sils also reveals how long the choreographers of the show have known: “I have known Milan Komarov since she danced in a ballet studio before I went to ballet school, where I was a teacher (it was the beginning of my teaching career). becoming an artist, a dancer, a choreographer I have seen several of her works, I have also invited her to some solo dances in my studio, she is a self-sufficient person who comes from choreography, she doesn’t have to think about where her choreography comes from. “The aesthetics she has are also close to me. We could never raise her choreographic demands if I didn’t have powerful dancers who grew up with classical dance techniques. This show is already called contemporary ballet.”
Komarova has given master classes in contemporary ballet to the dancers of “TS Dance Academy”, and then the idea for the show arose, she says: “Watching this process of work with girls, Tali had an idea to create an original work for them. and this
the theme is about girls who are still in, say, a cocoon stage and will soon turn into beautiful butterflies who will take their steps in independent life, even trying to find a place in society with their voice. ”
The choreographer notes that the staging has turned out to be an interesting stage for both her and the girls. Working with them, Komarova has gained and learned a lot, and at the same time felt the differences between the generations. She adds that “Voices in Silence” will be enriched by guest artists from the Latvian National Ballet.
During the rehearsal of the show, there is an opportunity to talk to one of the students of the studio – Evelīna Inn. The girl has been playing ballet for five years, but she started dancing at the age of three. “Voices in Silence” won’t be her first show, but what was the path to contemporary ballet?
“The preparation process was definitely not easy and it was definitely long enough. But we are also ready for challenges and to surprise the audience. Every day we do more classical ballet, but this is something to do with it, but not quite. It still requires enough technique, but the movements are more fluid and, I would say, more felt, “says the dancer.
“I think it’s important that we, as young girls, carry this message – girls and women need to be strong, make a name for themselves and be aware that we can do it.”
In preparation for the premiere, the problem becomes clear – there is no room for contemporary dance. According to Tālis Sils, there are many talented choreographers in Latvia and a culture-loving nation should have its own space for contemporary dance, contemporary ballet and various contemporary performances. The premiere of the contemporary ballet “Voices in Silence” will be shown at the VEF Culture Palace. In the autumn, the production is planned to be shown on the stages of Latvia’s regional concert halls.
