Head coach Adi Hütter: It’s a game in which you have to analyze a lot. I knew that it would be a very difficult home game, also because of the suspensions and cancellations. We did well in the first half and found playful solutions, and we switched very well. We allowed too many chances after the break. Three points are what count and what makes me happy. Compliments to Union for making life very difficult for us. Before our 1-0, Union already had a 100 percent chance. Then we had the game under control even before the 1-1 draw. The crux of the matter was the 2: 1. Union has thrown everything into the balance after the break. We didn’t do well in the second half except for the goal to make it 5-2. Kevin ultimately secured the victory for us. It was difficult with standards because we missed Martin Hinteregger and Tuta, who were strong in their heads and tackles. Djibril Sow was certainly very important with Sebastian Rode in midfield, I really liked his performance. I would never have dreamed of five goals against the third best defense in the league. There were a lot of mistakes on both sides. I love attacking and attractive football when we don’t allow a lot. We did not succeed in the latter. I’m very happy with the three points before the international break. Emotions are part of it. I received a well-deserved yellow card for not behaving properly.

Makoto Hasebe: From my point of view it was a clear foul before the 1-1 draw. But in the end we won 5-2, so everything is fine. We did it well in the first half and played very well. After the break we were a bit too passive, but we stayed calm. It was a deserved win.

Kevin Trapp: We scored the three goals at exactly the right time. Almost every attack at Union was dangerous, so it was important that we take our chances. In the second half we may have taken a step too little here and there, but overall we played well. Union had many and good chances, so this game could have ended differently. Every victory is worth gold if we want to achieve our goals. The point in Leipzig is particularly valuable after this victory.
