Saint Sebastian
Aiora Renteria, the voice of Zea Mays will receive the Adarra Saria, an annual award that recognizes the career and work of Basque artists or groups in the field of music, on June 21, at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. Among the arguments of the jury are the extremely high level of quality and success of this group throughout their 26-year musical career, their dedication and intensity, and the large number of collaborations, record and live, with Basque and international artists.
On the occasion of the award, Rentería gave an interview this morning on Hoy por Hoy San Sebastián, in which he expressed his feelings for receiving such an important award. “You see other people who have previously received the award and it’s an honor to be in the same group as them,” she began by expressing herself.
“We are comfortable”
Regarding the 26-year career that the group has carried out on stage, he wanted to declare that “we are very comfortable”. “Making music continues to excite us, we like to be rehearsing, we like to record, play live. We push forward because we still enjoy it, the day we stop doing it we will consider something else, but for the moment we are comfortable.”
Regarding the group’s latest album, “Adore, kemena, kuraia”, he highlighted that the group began to make the songs that make it up during the pandemic caused by COVID-19. “We realized that it was important to be courageous. Life has good things but also very bad things, and you have to learn to push forward.”
The singer has also spoken about the group’s plans for the future: “Now Victoria Eugenia, later the summer concerts, and then the fall. For now, keep doing gigs, keep making songs, keep recording and above all keep enjoying yourself.”
