Vodafone’s New Limited Data Tariffs vs. Competition: An In-Depth Comparison

T-Mobile embarked on a rebuild, offering two new data-limited tariffs
Basic Lite offers 3 GB of data for 567 crowns per month
More interesting is Basic+ with 10 GB and a price of 697 crowns

Vodafone embarked on a slight restructuring of its data-limited tariffs. The new offer is aimed at more demanding customers with a budget between 500 and 700 crowns, but who do not want unlimited data at a low speed. At first glance, however, it seems that the tariffs are aimed at slightly less mobile customers than the competition.

New (un)limited tariffs

Vodafone’s offer of completely unlimited tariffs is relatively wide and can be chosen by a customer with 700 crowns, or even twice as much. The common denominator is always unlimited internet, calls and SMS. But if you’re aiming a little lower, you can treat yourself to a cheaper tariff with unlimited calls and SMS, but a classic limited data package.

Don’t overlook

Vodafone has new unlimited tariffs. They are cheap, but will not please older customers

So far, Vodafone has only offered a trio of tariffs in this industry. Start 130 and 250 minutes have only 1 GB of data and a given number of free minutes, each SMS in this tariff costs CZK 1.51. The price is 327 crowns or 437 crowns per month. There was also a Red Basic tariff with 6 GB of data, unlimited calls and SMS for 657 crowns. The price is already slightly higher, but you can get a discount if you add fixed internet.

Vodafone Red Basic

The hot news is a pair of Red Basic Lite and Red Basic+ tariffs. These extend the limited data offer and target customers in the lower-middle to middle class. Basic Lite offers unlimited calls and SMS, but on top of that 3 GB of data. It will then amount to 567 crowns per month.

Its improved counterpart offers 10 GB of data instead of 3 GB. The price is 697 crowns per month, so it will cost the same as the basic Unlimited Basic+ tariff with a surfing speed of 4 Mb/s. There is also the possibility to get a discount when purchasing with fixed internet – the subsequent price is 558 crowns per month. The new price list, which takes into account this changed offer, is valid from October 12.

Vodafone also points out that, in addition to the fixed internet discount, the two new tariffs Red Basic Lite and Red Basic+ also include a discount for the purchase of new hardware of 2 to 3 thousand crowns. All basic tariffs, including these two new ones, also allow you to get a discount of 200 crowns upon proof of disability or financial hardship.

The competition isn’t cheap either

Just for comparison, the O2 operator offers, for example, Neo+ Blue with 4 GB of data for 599 crowns per month, or Neo+ Bronze with 12 GB of data for 749 crowns per month. T-Mobile also offers data plans with 10 and 12 GB of data (plus unlimited calls and SMS), but they cost plus or minus 700 crowns.

The shining star is T-Mobile’s offer with unlimited calls, unlimited SMS and a 7GB data package (including the Always online service). The tariff is only available until the end of October at a promotional price of 469 crowns without obligation.

At the same time, it also applies that the cheapest tariff without age restrictions is offered by Vodafone, namely the already mentioned Start 130 minutes. Unfortunately, the competition is primarily limited to cheap tariffs for certain customer groups, such as young people under 26 years of age or, conversely, senior citizens over 60 years of age.
