Vodafone, one of the largest players in the local communications market, which acquired the cable company UPC two years ago, has started to offer customers for the first time fixed fiber optic internet at high-speed data download speeds. 1 Gbps, thus competing on equal positions with rivals from Digi and Orange (which will soon take over the fixed division of Telekom).
Vodafone is the last big player on the fixed net market to start offering net at these speeds, the first launch of such a subscription being made by Digi, the leader of the fixed net market, in October 2013. It is not clear at this time, however, who is coverage for services available at this speed, the latest information on this topic being that Vodafone has connected 21,000 rural households to fiber.
The cheapest fixed net package at this speed from Vodafone costs 11 euros (or 9 euros for customers who also have a Vodafone mobile subscription). The company introduced the offers with net at this speed with the relaunch of the offer of fixed packages, which contains 4 new packages that have prices between 10 and 16 euros, and which include in the more expensive variants access to mobile net services.
“The new commercial offer is significantly simplified and gives customers the opportunity to configure with fixed options the package of fixed services, simple and fast,” said Nedim Baytorun, the new commercial director on the business segment of Vodafone Romania.
