Vocational training: 73 billion FCFA from the World Bank to develop secondary education

These remarks were made by Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training (Minefop). It was on the occasion of the first session of the work of the Steering Committee of the Support Project for the Development of Secondary Education and Skills for Growth and Employment (Padesce), held on January 28, 2023 in Yaoundé. .

Indeed, the Padesce is an initiative of the Cameroonian government, set up with the support of the World Bank. The project is structured around four components, with the objective of improving equitable access to quality secondary education and market-relevant technical and vocational training.

The government is focusing on the most disadvantaged girls and disadvantaged learners in areas with low levels of schooling, learners and teachers in general secondary schools in rural or peri-urban areas benefiting from the project and internally displaced learners. or refugees from the North-West and South-West regions.

During the work in Yaoundé, the member of the government indicated during the work that the Padesce will be set up and jointly financed to the tune of 73 billion FCFA by the World Bank; the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Cameroonian government, through a credit obtained from the International Development Association (IDA).
