Vocational High School Students to Receive Allowance for Training Periods in Companies Starting January 2024

Good news for high school students. The latter will receive from January 1, 2024 an allowance to enhance their training periods carried out in the company this year, according to a decree published on Saturday in the Official Journal. In May, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of this measure as part of the reform of the vocational high school, a campaign promise.

The provisions of the decree establishing this financial allowance will come into force on September 1, 2023. “The payment of the allowance by the Services and Payment Agency for the periods of training in the workplace carried out in 2023 will take place from 1 January 2024”according to the decree.

10 to 20 euros per day

This allowance is intended for students of vocational high schools who are preparing a professional diploma at level 3 and 4 (Professional Baccalaureate, CAP, in particular) and who have signed an internship agreement with the organization which hosts them during their period of training in a professional environment. .

The amount of the bonus varies according to the type of training and the level of education. It is calculated according to the number of days of training period that the student has actually completed, multiplied by a daily rate corresponding to the diploma and the year of training. This package varies from 10 to 20 euros per day, specifies an order which also sets, for each training and level of education, a ceiling for this allowance.
