VNA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs united on foreign information

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Information Agency (VNA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) have long been partners in foreign information, contributing to the effective realization of the foreign policy of the Party and the State , declared Monday, November 11, the general director of the VNA, Vu Viêt Trang.

Speaking at a working session with heads of Vietnamese representative bodies abroad for the period 2025-2028, she highlighted the close cooperation between the VNA and MOFA, as well as between the offices of the VNA abroad and the representative bodies of Vietnam abroad, noting that the two parties support each other in the accomplishment of their missions.

The VNA, as a key national news agency for foreign affairs, strives to disseminate information on the country’s external activities, including the efforts of Vietnam’s representative bodies, citizen protection activities and life and feelings of the Vietnamese community abroad towards the homeland.

It also promotes the image of Vietnam internationally, provides information about foreign countries and Vietnam-related issues in its home country, and brings the world closer to Vietnam.

The VNA currently has more than 2,000 employees, including 927 reporters and editors, and operates in 30 countries and territories on five continents.

It produces around 60 newspaper products in Vietnamese and nine foreign languages, including English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Lao, Khmer, Korean and Japanese. It also publishes books and reference materials.

“Despite many challenges, VNA reporters abroad always receive effective support from ambassadors and embassies,” Vu Viet Trang noted.

Through its overseas offices, the VNA and embassies have organized numerous photo exhibitions highlighting Vietnam’s relations with other countries, promoting the country and its people on the occasion anniversaries of their diplomatic relations and during important national celebrations such as the founding of the Party and National Day.

Considering the country’s development in this new phase and the complex and unpredictable international situation, she stressed that cooperation between the VNA and Vietnam’s representative agencies abroad should be further strengthened to keep pace with global trends. , particularly in the context of the rise of digital technology and artificial intelligence.

The VNA hopes to receive more support from Vietnam’s representative offices abroad to expand the reach of its foreign information products, including the electronic newspaper VietnamPlus, Vietnam Illustré, Viêt Nam News and Le Courrier du Vietnam, the official said, adding that this collaboration will help improve the effectiveness of the country’s external communications work.

Vu Viet Trang suggested adding links to VNA websites and electronic journals on the pages of these offices and called on their officials to continue supporting the agency’s journalists.

The VNA is ready to work with offices to organize exhibitions in host countries highlighting the image of Vietnam, its people, its economic achievements and its foreign relations, continued the director general.

Reflecting on the key tasks of protecting sovereignty in cyberspace, combating hostile and false views and ensuring information security, Vu Viet Trang said the VNA hopes to receive official information from diplomatic missions on sensitive political security issues, thereby helping to stabilize public opinion in the midst of contradictory information.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh partly attributed the diplomatic successes, considered by leaders as a “positive point” in recent years, to the press circle, affirming that through his efforts, the image of a peaceful, independent, stable and thriving Vietnam was presented to the world.

Highlighting the VNA’s crucial role in disseminating Party and state policies, directives and laws, he said its general information has a significant influence on the public, helping to foster social consensus and serving the construction, development and defense of the country.

The activities of the VNA and its network of reporters in various countries around the world contribute to promoting the image of Vietnam and strengthening understanding between the Vietnamese people and other nations, he said, praising the role of the VNA in connecting overseas Vietnamese with their homeland. – VNA
