The Sofia Court of Appeal has ruled that vlogger Asen Genov is innocent of charges of hooliganism, disrespect for society and damage to other people’s property.

On November 7, 2013, he, as part of a group of people, wrote “Who? BKP – shame! Who!” of the sculptural composition in front of the BSP headquarters on “Positano” Street in Sofia. This was followed by an indictment by the prosecutor’s office, which comes hours after a report was filed by “Protest Network” (of which Genov was a part), against DPS MP Delyan Peevski, Tsvetan Vasilev (then head of KTB) and Nikolay Barekov (then leader of the “Bulgaria Without censorship”). In front of “Dnevnik”, Genov defines it as pressure and repression on political opponents through the use of judicial power. In 2015, the prosecutor’s office stopped pursuing the charge.

An initial acquittal by the Sofia District Court followed, which was subsequently changed to a fine of BGN 1,500. In the end, the latter was cancelled. The European Court of Human Rights also made an exculpatory decision after Genov’s appeal.
