Aleksandr Vlasov (BORA – hansgrohe) won the queen stage, which was shortened to 104 kilometers, in the 82nd Paris-Nice (WorldTour) on Saturday. At La Madone d’Utelle (Alpes-Maritimes), the 27-year-old Russian was eight seconds ahead of Remco Evenepoel, who left the Slovenian Primoz Roglic for second place.
Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates) retained the yellow leader’s jersey. The 25-year-old American is still four seconds ahead of his compatriot Matteo Jorgenson. The Dane Mattias Skjelmose is third at 35 seconds, Evenepoel fourth at 36 seconds.
The ‘Course to the Sun’ concludes on Sunday with a 109.3 kilometer long ride with start and finish in Nice. First three cols of the second category and then two of the first category are climbed. The last of these, the Col des Quatre Chemins (3.6 km, 8.8%, with a peak of 16%), is located sixteen kilometers from the finish on the Promenade des Anglais.
