Sure, that I am a member of GERB – however, I am not in the management structures. Former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov said this in the show “Face to Face”.
“I am a member of GERB, I am not one of the governing bodies, but I am a member of GERB. Of course, there were interpretations. It’s easy to use a reputational damage like this assessment by the US government on a certain party member and that’s a problem for the party,” he said.
He specified that he has not been part of for two years the governing bodies of the GERB party. “I stay in the party and have many friends inside. I hope this will not be a problem for them, just as it is not a problem for me,” he added.
According to him, the assessment of the US is worrying and disappointing because he has “always respected the American way of life”. It became clear from his words that the facts described are inaccurate.
“I can’t help but be proud that in an interdepartmental commission, which is under the umbrella of the Ministry of Finance, it was allowed wrong application of the law and not for a short time. But I want to draw attention to the fact that this period does not include only my ministry, and that I was the one who identified the problem and tried to solve it by closing the Gambling Commission and transferring its work to the NRA,” he explained.
He admitted that at one point he realized that “the system is clogged and overgrown”, and responsibility in a collective body is blurred. That is why he proposed that the NRA regulate the gambling activity in Bulgaria.
“The main criticism that I have changed the legislation favorably is factually incorrect. I’ll leave you with a reference to the changes in Gambling Law, which do not include the participation of anyone from GERB, let alone the Minister of Finance. The facts can be established and I believe that our partners have been misled,” he added.
Reading the reasons for the “Magnitsky” list, Vladislav Goranov cannot recognize them because they are false. For example, it said that he bribed his employees. “That’s not true, why bribe them when I can order them,” he remarked.
