Vladimir Svet: Kaja Kallas wasted an opportunity at the right time

Today’s Congress of the Reform Party showed that the members of the party even understand that the party is at a dead end. Formally, the only prime ministerial candidate for chairman won. In essence, however, a large part of the party used the opportunity to show the leader of the party and his team that they do not understand him and are not satisfied.

The fact that [Kristen] Michal me [Hanno] Pevkur received more votes in the election as chairman than Kaja Kalla when running for chairman, which is a sign that the old camps of the Reform Party are preparing for an internal struggle. Interestingly, both contenders kept a low profile until now. Love in the internal competition of the Reform Party It is well known how severe the price of a false start can be. Now the masks have fallen and supporters are gathering behind both potential party leaders, whether they want it or not.

Kaja Kallas let the opportunity go to waste at the right time. His main supporter, the tax locomotive Mart Võrklaev, did not even get into the board. A chairman with such a weak mandate and an incomplete team hardly has any authority in the new party leadership. It is probably not enough to push through the plan to leave, others will decide that in the future. Now the political legacy of Kallas will be divided without him having a decisive voice in it.

The departure of Kallas has become an extremely difficult problem for the Reform Party. The concern of all of us remains the falling economy, for which the ruling party does not have the time and energy.
