Originally, SC Rapperswil-Jona signed a monthly agreement in early October, stating that if a corresponding offer comes from the NHL, it can return overseas immediately. At the same time, however, there was a variant to extend the contract in the Swiss club. But this possibility has now fallen. Rapperswil announced on its official website that it had given up the possibility of signing a new contract with the Czech forward Vladimír Sobotka.

The 33-year-old participant in three World Cups and World Championships 2016 spent the last two seasons in Buffalo, NHL, but this October he became a free agent. He has not yet received a new engagement in the famous league, so he agreed to sign a short-term contract with Rapperswil.
Sobotka played four matches for him, in which he scored two assists. But he won’t add another match or Canadian points. “We would like to thank Vladimír Sobotka for his determination and we wish him all the best on his future journey,” said the club, which also includes other Czech forwards Roman Červenka and Lukáš Lhoták.

Last week, all players and the club’s implementation team entered quarantine for Covid-19. Rapperswil had five infected people, three of them hockey players. According to the club website, he is not allowed to play until November 4.
