Russian President Vladimir Putin makes new statements at a televised meeting on Wednesday where he once again makes new nuclear threats.
– The threat of nuclear war is growing, says Putin.
The President adds:
– Russia will defend our allies by all possible means.
He further adds that Russia has not gone “crazy”.
– We have not gone crazy, we know what nuclear weapons are, says Putin.
He added that Russia has the most advanced and modern forms of nuclear weapons of any nuclear power.
– But we are not going to travel the world with this weapon like a razor, says the president.
– No opportunity
In Putin’s statement, he also claims that Russia did not start the conflict in Ukraine, but that it started with what he describes as the “coup” in 2014.
– We have not had the opportunity to resolve the situation in Ukraine, he says.
Furthermore, the president says that Russia is the only one who can guarantee the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The nightmare scenario: this is how the West will respond
It’s not the first time
Putin’s statement on Wednesday is not the first time he has threatened nuclear weapons. In the speech he gave in September, when he announced the mobilization of Russian soldiers for war in Ukraine, he stated that The West has launched nuclear threats against Russia. Putin himself then launched nuclear threats against the West.
– I would like to remind the West that our country also has various weapons of destruction, and that in some cases these are more modern than those of NATO. We will use all means at our disposal to secure our homeland, our sovereignty and our freedom, Putin said, adding:
– I’m not bluffing.
Putin’s nuclear train is scary
– It will be devastating for Putin
In October, researcher, retired general and former defense chief Sverre Diesen paid a visit The NRK Politisk kvarter program. Disen then said that the most worrying thing is that Putin, constantly waving the nuclear saber, talk about it without doing it.
– So, he puts himself in a form of compulsion to move. This is because he will lose credibility every time he repeats these threats without anything happening. That’s quite concerning, Diesen said, continuing:
– Mainly because he now has opposition in his inner circle who are starting to grow dissatisfied, plus the fact that he has people around him who really want Russia to use tactical nukes in the belief that this is what is needed to dissuade the West from continuing to support Ukraine.
Diesen went on to say that a nuclear attack by Russia “will be retaliated in a way that will be absolutely devastating for Putin and Russia.”
