Vladimir Putin: – Lures seniors to the war

When Putin first invaded Ukraine, the Russian army consisted only of men aged 18-27.

It was then the “usual” age for soldiers in service. Many of the officers were older – up to 40 years, which according to Russian law is the upper limit for how old you can be to do military service.

Now, however, it is men of retirement age who will secure Putin’s victory, according to Aftonbladet.

Anyone

Russia is said to have launched a campaign to recruit volunteers for the war, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) writes in a report.

Now all 85 of the Russian Federation’s territories will invest heavily in gathering battalions of 400 men in each group. And the two requirements required to become a Russian soldier are quite modest:

  • You do not need any previous experience.
  • You can be from 18 to 60 years old – or older, if you feel “awake”.

The mobilization started already in June, but has been stepped up in July. The volunteers will reportedly receive 30 days of training before being sent to the fighting in Ukraine.

OPENS THE MEETING: Spain is hosting the NATO summit. Jens Stoltenberg came with several clear messages.

Entices with money

Everyone sent down to the war will receive approximately 30,000 kroner in monthly salary – plus 12 million kroner per battalion – per month. This should be in contrast to the fact that an average salary in Russia in 2022 is around NOK 4,500 a month – and a pension of just under NOK 2,500.

Joining a volunteer battalion is financially attractive to many, especially for retirees and the unemployed.

For Russia, on the other hand, it is a terribly expensive measure and perhaps shows how desperate Putin is to turn the war in his favor.

Advertises on TV

For those over 60 who survive the fighting, a golden future is promised. After the war, they are classified as war veterans and receive a generous salary and bonuses for the rest of their lives.

The TV channels’ advertising campaigns to get the older generation to join the volunteer battalions are also, to put it mildly, positive.

«Become a winner. Prove that you are still a man! ”

“Embark on your first battle with living legends!”

How many actually volunteered is unclear.
