Shortly before the play “The Tail”, in which Vladimir Karamazov is currently playing, he made a firm decision that he no longer wanted to do this profession. And not for the profession itself, but for the things that happen inside. This is what actor Vladimir Karamazov said.
“At the moment I absolutely don’t depend on anyone and for me the greatest success is having conquered my freedom. I can do what I want, I can say what I want and I’m not afraid of anyone or anything. And this really gives serious comfort. This is my greatest achievement in the past 10 years, both as a person and as a creator.”
“It was a very long process, but I absolutely consciously pursued this freedom,” Karamazov said and added: “Somehow it’s not so easy to be free, it’s difficult to be independent.”
“For 20 years I have endured too much. Because this is a profession in which we work together with too large a circle of people, each with their own character, each with their own problems, each with their own follies. And at some point already this he started giving me a lot of weight and i fell off. And actually “The Tail” was the show that came out just before i slammed the door like that. Yavor Gurdev (aka theater director Yavor Gurdev), put his foot in front of that door and said “come”. And I’m very glad that it happened like this, because nothing in a person’s life is by chance,” said Karamazov “Radio fire“.
The actor also commented on the current topic of scandals surrounding the “Ivan Vazov” National Theater: “Actually, at the moment I will not say anything on this matter, for the simple reason that some things are happening there at the moment, that are some data to resolve this conflict, and that’s why I don’t want to add fuel to the fire. I have a strong opinion on the matter, it’s very extreme. And the only thing I can say is that if someone doesn’t If somewhere you like it and for some reason it doesn’t feel good, and everyone else feels good, you just have to get up and go, as I have done many times. I think that’s the most dignified behavior.”
“When the previous manager was at the National Theater (br Marius Donkin) I didn’t like the things going on there at all and the way he ran the theatre, but there were a lot of the theater staff who liked how well it was doing “And actually my decision was that in its 5 year period I will not accept a single performance and I have not accepted even once to participate in this theater. And I think that’s the most worthy thing – I just got up and left. “There are enough stages, there are enough theatres. There are enough stages for the show that if someone doesn’t get rid of them, they should just get up and walk away. That’s my opinion,” added Karamazov.
He also answered a question regarding the divergent opinions and comments on the assault on actress Diyana Dimitrova, his conflict with the media and the thesis that after the beating on her the theme of the “Istanbul Convention” will be revived:
“This scandal is very similar to the other scandal. And I can tell that very often people take sides on something they don’t even know, they just read a Facebook status, they take it literally and they already take sides, they start writing. It’s a complete nonsense. I attribute that to intelligence, sort of the average intelligence of people. If you’re above average intelligence, you’re always going to ask yourself questions.”
Regarding the political situation over the past few years and months, Karamazov said:
“I am very attentive to politics, for the simple reason that I, as a citizen, have a position, but in no case can I say that I am a person who is deeply concerned with politics and follows what happens in it. I cannot give an solution to the question at the moment of how to get out of this political crisis, and somehow it takes up too much time in space and time to get into politics.
