The court has sentenced a 24-year-old man to one year in prison, three months of which are suspended, for preparing an attack at the house of a plumber in Vlaardingen. The plumber’s home has been the target of attacks for months.
Radley C. was found by officers on the night of December 23 with a fellow 30-year-old suspect in a car near the plumber’s home. When officers checked the car, they found a mortar bomb, a balaclava and work gloves.
During the hearing of the case at the beginning of this month, C. said that he had to take someone to Vlaardingen that evening. In their own words he didn’t know it a possible attack or a car bomb. He also said that he did not know about the many explosions at the plumbers.
‘Suspect knew something was up’
The judge does not agree with this and rules that C. knew something was going on. The court notes that the plumber suffered several attacks, but there is no evidence that the suspect is involved, reports Rijnmond.
The sentence for C. is lower than the request of the Public Prosecution Service. That required fifteen months in prison, of which six months were on parole. The co-suspect will appear in court at a later date.
Multiple attacks and arrests
The plumber’s house has been the target of attacks more than ten times since last April. The person says he doesn’t know why is it targeted.
Several suspects have already been arrested in connection with the blast. For example, in the last two weeks the police have arrested three boys between 14 and 16. The police found them near the house. They also had items with them that could be used to carry out attacks.
In addition, the 27-year-old Rotterdam resident arrived at the beginning of this month condemned a two-year prison sentence, with ten months suspended, for being involved in causing an explosion at the plumber’s home. The man has not disclosed anything about his motive or client.
