Vizzotti: “We are in a different surveillance stage of the pandemic” | The Minister of Health called for booster vaccinations

The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, He pointed out this Wednesday that although “we are already in a different surveillance stage” of the covid-19 pandemic in Argentina, the population should be vaccinatedespecially those who have not yet received the booster dose.

“Getting vaccinated is going to be key so that, even if the cases do not increase, we do not have hospitalizations and deaths. Already we are in a different surveillance stage in relation to the covid-19 pandemic in the countrywith a weekly notification, and with two weeks of increase in the number of cases, but that is low,” Vizzotti said at a press conference held at the Government House after the national Cabinet meeting.

The minister specified that “vaccination is advanced”, and that “a very special monitoring is carried out in the beds around deaths, especially in the hospitalization and occupation of intensive care beds.”

The official also commented that “between weeks 68 and 69, the doses applied against covid 19 doubled, going from 250,000 to 500,000; we are still in a low number in the country, and we need to stimulate that second booster in the population that is most at risk.”

For this reason, the Minister of Health urged “those who have not yet received the first booster, to get vaccinated, the vaccines are there and that is going to be key so that, even if the cases increase, we do not have hospitalizations and deaths”.

He also referred to flu cases, saying that “we are in the fourth consecutive week of decline in influenza cases, flu.”

Comprehensive and federal health plan

Regarding the task of the area under his charge, Vizzotti stated that “we are with many axes in management, the entire team of the Ministry of Health is doing what people need us to do, which is to manage.”

“In addition, we are making a lot of progress with the provinces (…) in relation to the comprehensive and federal approach to mental health, working hard after making five regional councils, with concrete measures in the jurisdictions”, he reported.

Finally, Vizzotti stressed that “we are also advancing in Congress with a bill of HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections”.
