Vizela, Fafe, Guimarães and Famalicão surpass average value of infections in the region

The incidence value in the municipality of Vizela is more than twice the average for the region, according to data by municipality of the Northern Regional Health Administration (ARS-N). The municipality has recorded 2,782 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days.

Although these are the counties in the North region that have the highest incidence value, there are still three other counties in Minho that exceed the average incidence in the region: Fafe, Guimarães and Famalicão

The report by the Regional Health Administration of the North (ARS-N), to which Lusa had access today, reports the epidemiological evolution in the counties of the North region from October 26, the day when the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) ) failed to disclose the maps by municipality.

According to the document, between the last week of October [de 27 outubro a 02 novembro] and the first week of November [03 novembro a 09 novembro] Vizela recorded values higher than the average incidence in the region, which stands at 1,146 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in 14 days.

The four Minho municipalities belong to the list of 121 municipalities covered by the civic duty of home collection, with new hours in the establishments and mandatory teleworking due to Covid-19.

In Paços de Ferreira, in the district of Porto, the incidence recorded between the two weeks is fixed at 3,948 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in 14 days.

In turn, Lousada, in the district of Porto, reports an incidence of 3,749 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days.

In the district of Aveiro, Oliveira de Azeméis is the municipality that exceeds this value.

In Bragança, the municipality that follows this trend is Freixo de Espada à Cinta and, in the district of Vila Real, is the municipality of Murça.

However, it is in the district of Porto that the municipalities with the highest incidence in the North region predominate, namely, Amarante, Felgueiras, Marco de Canaveses, Matosinhos, Paredes, Penafiel, Porto, Santo Tirso and Trofa.

The 121 counties covered by the most restrictive measures have more than 240 cases of infection with a new coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, a criterion used by the Government to update the list of municipalities subject to 15-day restrictive measures.

This criterion was defined by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, with an exception for outbreaks located in low-density counties.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,285,160 deaths in more than 52.1 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

In Portugal, 3,181 people died from 198,011 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health.
