The new Vivo X90 line has just been officially announced in China. Betting on three smartphones with powerful specifications, the devices have a big bet on fast charging support, an elegant design with a metal strip dividing the body and a huge highlight for the camera, where the Vivo X90 Pro Plus declares itself “the king of 1-inch” and strives to win the position of the best mobile phone for photography today.
VivoX90
The Vivo X90 arrives as the cheapest model of the trio. The device has a 6.78-inch screen with AMOLED technology, 120Hz frequency and DCI-P3 wide color gamut, as well as being equipped with the most powerful chipset in the industry. MediaTekthe Dimension 9200 designed in 4 nanometers, which combines up to 12 GB of RAM memory with up to 512 GB of internal memory.
For the camera module, the smartphone features a 50MP main sensor with f/1.75 aperture, 12MP ultrawide and f/2.0 lens, as well as a dedicated 12MP telephoto and portrait mode lens. The front camera has a resolution of 32 MP.
All three devices are distinguished by the use of the Vivo V2 Image Processing Unit (ISP), a chip designed by the company itself to optimize photos and videos, including lighting, contrast and color correction, as well as a more powerful and efficient artificial intelligence.
Finally, the Vivo X90 stands out for its 4,810 mAh battery with support for fast charging at 120 watts (W) and IP64 protection against dust and water splashes.
VivoX90Pro
Keeping all the screen and processor specifications of the X90, the X90 Pro is betting on more versatile cameras and gets small improvements over the cheaper model.
The rear camera set gets a powerful 1-inch 50MP main sensor, lenses co-designed with Zeiss, and f/1.75 aperture. However, the smartphone adopts a zoom lens with a 50MP sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The front camera repeats and retains the 32MP sensor.
As for the battery, the X90 Pro offers a 4,890mAh capacity with the same 120W fast charging as the X90, but now features support for 50W fast wireless charging.
As a differential, the device also stands out for supporting IP68 protection against water and dust damage, guaranteeing immersions of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes in fresh water.
Vivo X90 Pro Plus
Finally, the Vivo X90 Pro Plus comes as the best that the manufacturer can offer at the moment. The device has a Samsung E6 AMOLED screen for high color accuracy, 2K resolution (1440x3200p) and a large 6.78-inch panel with a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz.
This is the only mobile phone of the trio featuring the powerful and recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a strong focus on energy efficiency and with more processing power than the previous model.
For the camera set, the Vivo Mobile Communications Co. including the large 1-inch main sensor with 50MP resolution, a 50MP telephoto lens for mid-range zoom, and a 64MP periscope lens for high-performance 10x zoom. All three of these lenses offer optical image stabilization (OIS).
The ultrawide lens comes with a 48MP Sony IMX598 sensor and software optimization to reduce major image distortions. Finally, the module still offers a laser focus sensor and, for selfies, the 32MP sensor is kept.
The union of software and hardware also allows video capture in 8K resolution at 30 fps, recording in 14-bit RAW mode and different types of color calibration made in collaboration with Zeiss, offering more natural or vivid tones, as well as to special filters.
The smartphone has the smallest battery of the trio, at 4,700mAh, and also offers the smallest fast charging capability, with 80W wired and the same 50W wireless as the X90 Pro.
In addition to maintaining IP68 protection against water and dust, the X90 Pro Plus stands out for its USB-C connector with USB 3.1 Gen 1 standard and high file transfer speed, as well as Bluetooth 5.3 with support for aptX HD codecs and LDAC for high fidelity sound.
