Jakarta, Selular.ID – Vivo patented a smartphone with a display design that can be extended, from right to left and gives users a wider screen.
Reported by 91mobiles, Vivo has filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization in May 2021. The patent was published on December 2 and contains an image of the design.
From the sliding concept of the Vivo mobile phone with a sliding screen, it expands from the back right, and returns when not in use.
The phone is equipped with a motor which when triggered automatically brings up the screen. The screen may be expanded manually with the help of touch or physical triggers.
While some tasks like accessing the rear camera might trigger this response automatically as a triple camera module can be observed on the left side of the phone, which appears when the screen is extended.

The speaker is at the top, while the USB Type-C port is on the right spine. The phone has a punch hole on the front for selfies.
As is well known Vivo is not the first company to try a sliding phone, as Oppo had previously made a concept phone dubbed Oppo X in 2021.
However, there are no commercially available slide phones yet.
Since Vivo’s sliding phone is still in the patent stage, it is not known when it will be available in the market.
