Chinese electronics manufacturer Vivo has now presented its first foldable mobile in the form of the vertically foldable Vivo X Fold. The phone has an external screen of 6.53 inches, as well as the foldable screen that becomes 8.03 inches in the extended position. Both screens support 120Hz and a built-in fingerprint reader. The foldable screen uses Ultra Thin Glass, UTG, similar to what Samsung uses in its foldable mobiles, but according to Vivo, their variant should withstand up to 300,000 folds. It also has a hinge that allows the screens to be folded flat against each other without any gaps along the sides.
Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor along with 12 gigabytes of RAM and up to 512 gigabytes of storage. A battery of 4600 should keep the phone alive, and it handles both wireless fast charging of 50W and charging via cord of 66W.
There are a total of six camera lenses in the Vivo X Fold. Four on the back – a 50MP primary lens complemented by a 48MP ultra-wide angle, a 12MP 2x telephoto and an 8MP 5x periscope photo. In addition, both screens each have a 16MP portrait camera that sits in a hole in each screen.
At the moment, the Vivo X Fold is only available in China with a price tag of ¥ 8,999, which, translated directly, is just over SEK 13,500.
