Jakarta –
Vivo was recently named the number one cellphone vendor in Indonesia for the fourth quarter of 2023. The cellphone vendor from China has prepared a number of strategies to maintain this position.
As is known, Vivo controls 19% market share in Indonesia in Q4 2023 with growth of 13% from the same period last year. Vivo Indonesia PR Manager Alexa Tiara said Vivo will continue to implement its existing strategy to continue this momentum.
“From the beginning, our strategy has always been to prioritize aesthetic design and professional cameras or adequate cameras with quite good performance,” said Alexa when met on the sidelines of the Vivo Tech Trip, Tuesday (20/2/2024).
“And we will continue to do that, releasing products with sophisticated innovation,” he continued.
According to Alexa, Vivo’s performance in the Indonesian cellphone market was greatly helped by sales of mid-range devices such as the Y36 at the beginning of the year and the V29 series towards the end of 2023.
Alexa added that Vivo is currently preparing the presence of the V30 series and the newest Y-series cellphones to be released in Indonesia in the near future. Previously, Alexa confirmed that Vivo would release another flagship cellphone in Indonesia this year.
At the same time, Vivo and other cellphone vendors face increasingly tough competition from Transsion Group brands (Infinix, Tecno, and Itel) whose annual growth reaches 147%.
These three brands are known to be aggressive in launching cellphones at very low prices. Responding to this competition, Alexa said that the products and prices set by Vivo were in line with user needs.
“We believe that all the products we release have their own targets. Vivo also has smartphones that cost IDR 1 million or IDR 2 million, and in our opinion, what we have released now is enough to meet consumer needs,” he concluded.
