Vivica A. Fox says Jada Pinkett Smith’s response to Will Smith’s Oscars slap was ‘self-righteous’: ‘There was no responsibility’

Vivica A. Fox had a lot to say about Jada Pinkett Smith’s first public reaction to her husband Will Smith’s slap in the face of Chris Rock at the Oscars.

In the program ” The Wendy Williams Show” Thursday, Fox expressed disappointment with Pinkett Smith, saying “there was no accountability” when she addressed the Oscars slap in the face on Wednesday’s episode of “Red Table Talk.” Fox also called Pinkett Smith’s comments “sanctimonious.”

“This is going to be hard for me,” Fox said. “They’re my partners. I’ve done a movie with both of them. ‘Set It Off’ with Jada and ‘Independence Day’ with Will Smith, which absolutely changed my life.”

“When I saw this video last night, it brought tears to my eyes. I’m going to be very honest with you,” Fox continued as she held back tears.

Fox went on to say that he was rooting for Smith before the slap and that the night was going to be a big night for “diversity,” with Will Packer executive producing the series and Smith the favorite to win best actor, which which finally happened.

But because of the attack, the night will be “marked forever,” he said.

The actress then addressed the “RTT” comments, saying that she would have liked Pinkett Smith to take more responsibility for the situation, since, according to Fox, her husband was “defending his honor” when he slapped Rock.

“I have love for the Smiths. I know their kids, I’ve seen them grow up. I just wish we had a little more responsibility and it didn’t seem so self-righteous of Jada,” Fox said.

On Wednesday’s “Red Table Talk” show, Pinkett Smith said she hoped her husband and Rock could “reconcile.”

“My deepest hope is that these two intelligent and capable men have a chance to heal, talk about this and reconcile,” Pinkett Smith said.

“The way the world is today, we need both of you, and we actually need each other more than ever,” he continued. “Until then, Will and I will continue to do what we’ve done for the last 28 years, and that is continue to discover this thing called life together.”

Smith slapped Rock onstage at the Oscars after Rock made fun of Pinkett Smith’s baldness. Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia and has been outspoken about her hair loss due to this disease.

Wednesday’s episode of “Red Table Talk” focused on alopecia.
