Indonesian badminton men’s singles athlete Shesar Hiren Rhustavito express his feelings after becoming a hero of Indonesia to the final Thomas Cup 2022.
Indonesia qualified for the 2022 Thomas Cup final after Shesar Hiren Rhustavito defeated Kodai Naraoka in the fifth semifinal match at Impact Arena, Friday (13/5).
Vito won two straight games over Kodai with a score of 21-17, 21-7 in the fifth party which made Indonesia 3-2 ahead of Japan in the Thomas Cup semifinals.
After the semifinal match, Vito admitted that he was grateful to be able to play optimally to contribute victory figures for Indonesia in the crucial party.
“Thank God I was able to play optimally and contributed a winning number for the Indonesian team in the deciding party. This contribution has led Indonesia to the final,” said Vito, quoted from the PBSI release.
Vito also admitted that he was tense when playing the party that decided. But according to him appearing in the decisive match does not have to be a good and high ranking player.
“Appearing in the deciding party at 2-2, of course there is tension. Only from the start I have prepared myself. I have experience appearing in the decisive party like in the Thomas Cup preliminary round in Aarhus last year,” said Vito.
“Playing in the decisive match does not have to be a good player and has a high ranking. On the contrary, he is a player who must be mentally prepared and can go all out. I am grateful that I have the mentality and can go all out,” Vito added.
Next, Indonesia will face India in the final of the 2022 Thomas Cup at Impact Arena, Sunday (15/5).
