Vitoria’s Confirmed Access to Series A of Brazilian Championship 2024

O Victory is confirmed in Series A of the Brazilian Championship in 2024. The place was confirmed after a 2-1 victory against Novorizontino, this Sunday, in Novo Horizonte. In the press conference after the match, Léo Condé celebrated access to the elite and highlighted Rubro-Negro’s “suffering-free campaign” in Series B.

I think we ran a painless campaign.

– We had some setbacks, but Vitória led from start to finish. There was a moment when we left the G-4, but it was only two rounds. We were almost always in G-4 and a good part in first position. It wasn’t that painful. They were difficult games like in any competition in Brazil, with great balance – added the coach.

Vitória started Series B with five consecutive victories and spent just two rounds outside the G-4 of the national competition. Rubro-Negro’s worst position during the campaign was fifth place. The team is also the one that has led the most in the Second Championship so far. Numbers that confirm the smooth journey mentioned by Condé.

The place in the elite, in fact, could have come three rounds ago. This was the third time that the team entered the field to confirm mathematical access, which did not come before because of two consecutive draws at Barradão, against Juventude and Vila Nova.

Despite guaranteed access, Series B is not over for Vitória yet. In the coming days, Rubro-Negro will try to confirm the title of the national competition, which could come on Tuesday if Criciúma does not beat Guarani.

Léo Condé made no secret of the fact that he will be rooting for Tigre to stumble, but he also said he was looking forward to Saturday’s match, against Sport, at Barradão. The coach wants to party with who he called the “protagonist” of the red-and-black campaign: the fans.

– I’m going to lie if I say no, right (you’re going to support Guarani)?! I want to define it as soon as possible. But so, we have to do our work, we will celebrate access, but when we present there we will do another good week of work. If the title comes on Tuesday, or not, we have respect for the other teams in the competition and we will go strong against Sport. And also for the reunion with the fans, who were our protagonists on this journey – concluded Condé.

Feeling
– Great feeling of satisfaction, of duty accomplished. I was hired because of the good work I did previously to try to move Vitória up the division. We had a very complicated, very turbulent start, but we managed to organize ourselves to carry out a consistent campaign to achieve access. Even in adverse moments I remained convinced of what I was doing. Athletes have always dedicated themselves a lot. This was my guide to overcome the difficult moments and now arrive with access and close to the title.

The game
– Regarding today’s game, we knew it would be very open. So we had to withstand their pressure and explore the spaces they would give us. We started the game badly, we scored a lot from distance. The technical stop helped us get things right, we came back better and managed to draw. We knew they would attack more, so I added a third defender and pushed Trindade further into the middle, to play together with Dudu, and maintained the structure of having three up front. It was a very strategic game, the team knew how to suffer and was very firm.

Welder penalty taker
– We regret (racism against Welder), Brazilian football as a whole, the criticism has moments that go too far, a lot of things are exaggerated. Many players leave clubs early because things get too far. Welder is a player with speed, who fights a lot. He was not discouraged by the criticism, he continued working seriously. We managed to rescue him as we already did with Lucas Arcanjo and João Victor. So we were very happy. The order (from who was going to knock) came from the bank. At that moment, the two official scouts had already left, Léo Gamalho and Osvaldo. But Welder is always training and at that moment I asked him to hit.
