Until recently it was unclear whether FC Barcelona could register Vitor Roque for the Primera Division. On Wednesday evening the Catalans gave the all-clear.
Xavi Hernandez (43) can now count on Vitor Roque. The Brazilian storm hope was registered for the game. “Registered,” said the Spanish champions on social networks such as X (formerly Twitter) and posted a photo of his new addition.
Barça agreed to a transfer of Vitor Roque with Athletico Paranaense last summer. 40 million euros should flow as a basic transfer fee. Bonuses can increase the transfer compensation to 61 million euros.
Due to problems with Financial Fair Play, the Blaugrana were unable to sign Roque at the start of the season. The transfer was completed at the beginning of January, but confirmation from the Spanish league association was still pending.

On Wednesday, Barça coach Xavi emphasized that registration was “a matter of hours”. And indeed. At 9:14 p.m. Barça announced that the league had given the green light. Vitor Roque is therefore in the squad for the away game at Las Palmas (9:30 p.m.). Vitor Roque could make his Barça debut.
Barça meets old friends
The Catalans meet an old friend in the Canary Islands: Francisco Javier García Pimienta. The 49-year-old played for FC Barcelona’s second team in the 90s.
From 2006 to 2018 he was employed as a youth coach at Barça. From 2018 to 2021, Pimienta looked after the second team. He has been the head coach of Las Palmas since 2022.
