Vitesse can continue to count on Russian lender: ‘Now more important than ever’

Valeri Oyf, major shareholder of Vitesse, continues to support the club. The Russian continues to help Arnhemmers financially in the current circumstances and also hopes that supporters and sponsors do the same.

Vitesse, which will start training again next week to be well prepared when the Eredivisie starts in mid-September, can continue to count on Oyf. “We are behind Vitesse together,” said the Russian lender on the club site. “That may be more important now than ever. I will continue to support the club. And I hope as many supporters, partners and business club members will continue to do so.”

Vitesse, like all other BVOs, is severely affected by the corona crisis. The Arnhemmers try to keep their heads above water with the help of a voluntary contribution from large earners. “We called on colleagues who earn more than an x amount,” explains general director Pascal van Wijk. “We also asked these individuals to make a voluntary loyalty contribution.”

Last week it was announced that the players group and the staff are offering a salary sacrifice to help Vitesse. “It is now known that the loss of income for the new season is expected to be between four and seven million euros,” Van Wijk calculates. “We are therefore pleased that we have been able to make agreements with players, technical staff and management about a temporary salary reduction.”
