The Spanish Society of Senology and Breast Pathology (Sespm) ensures in the study “Lifestyle and breast cancer” that low levels of vitamin D could be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.
In particular, the study covers all epidemiological factors depending on the breast canceras well as their interaction in the evolution of the disease on patients.
1 in 8 could develop malignancy in their lifetime
talk about vitamin D It’s something we’re already used to because it’s a key part of our body in terms of protection and strength. Therefore, a lack of this vitamin in our body can be harmful.
This is underlined by a study by the Spanish Society of Senology and Breast Pathology (Sespm), “Lifestyle and breast cancer”, which states that low levels of vitamin D could be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.
As reported by Sespm, in collaboration with Faes Farma, there are several epidemiological factors that could be related to cancer momas well as its influence on the appearance and evolution of cancer, or its interference in the quality of life of patients.
The member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Bilbao and senior consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cruces University Hospital of Bilbao, Dr. José Luis Neyro, stressed that “various epidemiological investigations have been carried out that relate the levels of d hormone with the risk of developing breast cancer, this being the most common in women”.
In turn, experts insist that a high level of vitamin D in the body of women can help prevent the development of breast cancer.
Vitamin D reduces the incidence of breast cancer by up to 82%
Experts say the vitamin D It is a complex hormonal system that acts on the organs and tissues of all cells in the body, thus maintaining a close relationship with cancer.
The vitamin D acts as a receptor pathway on cancer cells, as well as on the behavior of these cells. For this reason, when we talk about breast cancer, we observe a progression towards metastasis.
However, consumption of this vitamin helped reduce the incidence of breast disease by up to 82% in some women who were followed up for up to 4 years.
In the results noted that some vitamins like D may be a modifiable factor in breast cancer risk. Therefore, experts recommend that the population consume this type of vitamin, not only for women, but for everyone in general.
