Vitamin D can also boost immunity.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA – Head of Medical Examination Division Siloam Hospitals Surabaya dr Vania Wijaya put forward Vitamin D can help reduce the risk of respiratory tract infections. Vitamin D can also boost immunity.

In his press statement, Sunday (20/3/2022), Doctor Vania said that because of its important role in reducing the risk of respiratory infections and increasing immunity, Vitamin D should be considered as a potential option in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. “Given this role, it’s a good idea for the community to have regular checks of vitamin D levels,” he said.

He said that the normal range of Vitamin D in the blood is 30 to 50 ng/ml. If the level of Vitamin D in the blood exceeds 100 ng/ml, it continues, then it will cause an accumulation of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia).

Symptoms include nausea and vomiting, weakness, fatigue, and lethargy and frequent urination. He also conveyed the importance of checking the level of Vitamin D in the blood to avoid the effects of excess Vitamin D.

He said that the intake of Vitamin D can be increased by sunbathing. In addition, eat foods rich in Vitamin D, or take vitamin supplements.
