Among the priorities, he identified:
- The Merge – obtaining an ideal, simple, reliable and decentralized PoS consensus;
- The Surge – achieving 100,000 transactions per second in Ethereum and rollups;
- The Scourge – reducing the risks of centralization in Ethereum PoS design, especially around MEV and liquid staking;
- The Verge – simplifying block verification;
- The Purge – simplifying the protocol, eliminating technical debt and limiting the costs of participating in the network;
- The Splurge – other fixes.
Let us recall that at the end of December, Buterin proposed reviving the “cypherpunk” revolution, which was conceived for the network at the dawn of its existence.
A month earlier, he published an essay “My Techno-Optimism,” where he shared his opinion on the impact of new developments, in particular blockchain and artificial intelligence, on the development of human civilization.
