Have you seen the documentary broadcast by the German RTL?
Yes, my colleagues in production and I got it the day after the broadcast (it happened on Monday, March 8, editor’s note).

Has your suspicion that you have at least been inspired by your project Angriff auf unsere Kinder (Attack on our children) been confirmed?
It goes far beyond mere inspiration. They borrowed from us the form, concept, rules of communication, scenographers, including the color concept of the rooms, the involvement of experts and so on. The resemblance is striking.

The documentary by Barbora Chalupová and Vít Klusák touches on a serious topic.

They even used the same furniture. At times, it seemed to us that the rate of citations was intentional.

The Germans have approached you in the past, saying that they are interested in your documentary, which you shot with Bára Chalupová. Were they people from RTL or other?
The RTL production contacted us on January 19 this year, considering that they were considering purchasing a feature-length version of V grid for their video library. So we sent them a so-called screener, a complete film with a watermark in the image. Then they didn’t react for a while and later replied that in the end they were not interested in the film. And then a sample from their version appeared…

Will you take any specific legal action against RTL?
In the first phase, we will try to go amicably and explain the whole oversight with the representatives of RTL. We can’t believe that the RTL management knew about the undisguised copy of our film.

Your network document is dubbed into German. Ready for distribution in German-speaking countries when cinemas open. Will it still be possible given the situation?
Representatives of Filmwelt, a distribution company that is about to release V on the network in German cinemas, are, of course, taken by surprise and fear of losses that could cause them not to be the first.

However, a significantly bigger problem is the disappointment of the German production company, which approached us from the region of the year that it would like to offer V as a so-called format in the network, and has negotiated German and Canadian candidates.

And to the German version. Is it any different from the Czech one?
Our German version of the original film 15+ differs only in dubbing, which is extremely careful. The German colleagues went so far that they let the girls act on the real girls at the age of twelve, which helps the illusion immensely.
–
Can you outline other destinations where the project could go?
There is a growing interest in film. It will be broadcast and screened in Norway, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, the Balkans, Spain and Britain. The pandemic has delayed the worldwide distribution of the film, but now it is starting up again and we are very happy about it.
