Visitors to the QuakeCon 2024 festival shared new information about Doom: The Dark Ages

The first full gameplay demo of the game was shown at QuakeCon 2024 Doom: The Dark Agesand many new details have emerged about the upcoming project. Here’s what we learned from witnesses:

  • Slow gameplay: Unlikely Doom Eternalthe new project emphasizes holding and defending, which significantly slows down the pace of the game, creating a more tactical and intense atmosphere.
  • New opponents: Among the new enemies, a spider-like creature with a human torso stands out. Soldiers with protective shields and mancubus also appeared, which became much larger and more dangerous.
  • Piloting ‘Mech: In one of the missions, the player controls a mech with a large machine gun. The mech is capable of not only shooting enemies, but also destroying buildings.
  • Flying dragon: Players will be able to fight on the dragon, against ground and air opponents. This element adds new dynamics and variety to the game.
  • New melee attacks: The Doom Slayer has new attacks, including a flail that returns ammo, a strike that causes chain lightning, and a powerful mace.
  • Deadly finishing moves: Iconic finishing moves remain, with a halo now appearing over near-dead opponents, allowing the Doom Slayer to eliminate them with extreme brutality. For example, Hell Knights can rip their arms off.
  • Interface changes: The interface has been redesigned and is now located closer to the center of the screen, which improves visibility and makes the game more comfortable.
  • New Arsenal: There will be new types of weapons in the game, including a single-barreled shotgun and a double-barreled plasma rifle. The saw shield, for example, instantly kills weak enemies and stops strong ones.

The game is scheduled to be released in 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
