It floats like a scent of relief for many hospitalized people and for their families: the conditions for visiting a loved one in the hospital will be relaxed. For many loved ones, leaving the one you love in the most total isolation, for his convalescence, was unbearable. A fortiori when the person, because of his age, for example, is unable to use the digital tools which would have enabled him to maintain at least a distance communication. This is the case, for example, of Rolande Deroubaix. Her husband has been recovering for two and a half months. Since December 1, she has only been able to see him three times thanks to the exceptional authorization of a doctor. At 83, he was hospitalized at the CHR Haute-Senne in Soignies following a fracture of the neck of the femur and his only link with the outside world is the telephone. “He only knows how to use a mobile phone, not even SMS, explains Rolande. He is destitute at the level of all that is modern. And so, as the telephone conversations progressed, we realized that things weren’t going very well… We could clearly see that he was starting to decline terribly! That’s not a good plan!“Rolande finally decided to bring her husband back home, a solution that entails significant costs.
First relaxations
But thanks to the decline of the epidemic, it is hoped, these situations will undoubtedly soon belong to the past.
In our region, for example, Epicura still prohibits visits (except in maternity and pediatrics), but a meeting is scheduled for the weekend to consider flexibility. At Chwapi (Tournai) also visits were prohibited, but they resume from this Tuesday, February 15, and under conditions (you need your CST, visits are only authorized for one person per day, between 5 and 6 p.m. And that only Tuesday Thursday and Sunday). Similar situation at the Charleroi University Hospital.
On the Jolimont side (In Mons, Warcquignies, Haine-Saint-Paul), we are also considering adapting the measures. A decision is expected on Tuesday. Finally, on the side of the CHR Haute-Senne, it is estimated that it is still too early to consider relaxations in terms of visits. We will still have to wait a bit.
