At 40 rue de Sèvres there is a former hospice of over 400 years old, spread over almost four hectares. Far from the horror movie image often associated with disused hospitals, the historic building is now one of the finest showcases of French luxury. Home to the Kering group and home to Balenciaga, the oldest part of the site will exceptionally open its doors to the public this weekend. At stake: the exploration of the future heritage of contemporary art, through the work of the visual artist Edith Dekyndt. From the Pinault collection, some of his finest works will be exhibited in the sumptuous chapel of the former hospital. Archival pieces made by Cristóbal Balenciaga will also be exhibited at the house’s headquarters.
