At the end of last year, the Japanese government planned to integrate the two QR codes of “Visit Japan Web” into one in order to shorten the entry time for tourists. Now the official website of “Visit Japan Web” officially announced that system changes will be made at 3 a.m. on January 25, Japan time, and the QR codes for entry inspection and customs declaration will be unified.
The announcement pointed out that in the past, separate QR codes were used for entry inspection (foreigner entry record) and customs declaration (declaration of carried items, separate consignment items), but after the change, one QR code will be used to handle both procedures.

The announcement also reminded that the two menus that previously displayed “foreigner entry records” and “carried items and separate consignment declarations” for foreign passengers will only display one menu of “entry review and customs declaration” after the release of the new system.
After the new system is officially launched, you can no longer use the QR code of the old system. If your flight arrives in Japan after 3 a.m. on January 25, but you have already logged in online, you can use the newly generated QR code as long as you log out of the system and log in again.
