“Visalia Group and Luz Solidaria Join “La Caixa” Foundation’s Alliance for Child Vaccination with Gavi”

The Visalia Group and the Luz Solidaria Foundation join the alliance for child vaccination promoted by the “la Caixa” Foundation. They are committed to this alliance to add resources and contribute to programs to help children

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is an international organization, bringing together the public and private sectors, to improve access to new and underused vaccines. Since 2000 it has helped vaccinate more than 981 million children, preventing more than 16.2 million future deaths. In 2008, the “la Caixa” Foundation was Gavi’s first private partner in Europe to promote the Alliance for Childhood Vaccination.

Thanks to the support of all donors, the annual commitment of the “la Caixa” Foundation to match all donations received and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Matching fund initiative, which doubles the total contributed to Gavi, it has been possible to vaccinate nearly 9 million children since the beginning of its activity; 860,000 in 2022. Since 2019, all the funds donated to Gavi by the “la Caixa” Foundation together with the Gates Foundation’s Gavi Matching Fund have covered 100% of the total budget for the Pneumonia vaccine in Mozambique and 44 % in Ethiopia in 2021.

Pablo Abejas, CEO of the Visalia Group, highlights that “support for sick or vulnerable children is one of the main axes of our social responsibility program, and with this collaboration we want to contribute to reducing infant mortality in countries with fewer resources.”

Likewise, Isabel Jiménez, president of the Luz Solidaria Foundation, insists on “the importance of this alliance that was created with the aim of offering Spanish companies, as part of their social responsibility, the opportunity to collaborate with the Gavi project in their fight against infant mortality The initiative was also open to customers, CaixaBank Group employees and all supportive people who want to help save the lives of children.
