Visa-Free Entry for Chinese Tourists in Tunisia: Updated Travel Policy and Requirements

Chinese tourists can enter Tunisia without a visa.

The Chinese Embassy in Tunisia said on its official website on Saturday (October 7) that the Tunisian government has decided to implement a visa-free entry policy for Chinese tourists. The visa-free policy applies to Chinese individual or group tourists entering Tunisia from China or abroad.

The embassy reminds Chinese tourists that when checking in and entering the country, they must provide a paid hotel reservation (bon-voucher) and a round-trip air ticket that is consistent with the period of stay in Tunisia. If the hotel order is paid through a third-party platform, you need to ensure that the fee has been paid to the hotel, otherwise the trip may be blocked.

The embassy also reminds people who are going to Tunisia for business, study, work, family visits and other purposes to apply for a visa in advance at the local embassy or consulate of Tunisia.

Tunisia is located in northern Africa, adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea. Tourism is Tunisia’s pillar industry. According to Xinhua News Agency, Tunisia implemented a visa-free entry policy for Chinese tourists in 2017, but revised the relevant entry policy after the outbreak of the coronavirus. According to reports, in the second year after the visa exemption was implemented, the number of domestic tourists increased by about 40%.
